Marian Bellcock, age 91, of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA.
Marian Josephine Schwabe was born on December 27, 1926, to parents Henry and Anna (Irlbeck) Schwabe in Arcadia, IA. She was raised and grew up in the Arcadia/Maple River area, attending grade school in Maple River and high school at St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll, IA.
On October 23, 1945, Marian was united in marriage to William Paul Bellcock in Maple River, IA, at the St. Francis Catholic Church. This union was blessed with five children: Ronald, Sandra, Cheryl, Larry, and Richard.
Marian was an amazing woman who was not afraid of a little hard work. She farmed right alongside her husband, driving tractors, raising livestock, and everything else that goes along with being a farmer. Farming wasn’t the only thing she was good at. She owned and ran several restaurants in Sac City over the years including Morningside Restaurant and The Indian Village. Perhaps her greatest joy in life though, being her family…her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and eventually great-great grandchildren. Marian often babysat her grandchildren which, to her, was precious time spent and the grandkids, memories made, for sure. She often attended her grandkids’ ballgames and other activities. She was happy to be able to be there cheering them on.
Marian was very active in the VFW Auxilliary and also volunteered at Park View for many years. She enjoyed dancing and listening to Polka music. She was, as mentioned above, a very hard worker, and an inspiration to all. In 2007, Marian was awarded the “Women in Denim Inspiration Award”.
Those left to cherish Marian’s memory include her children: Ron (Julie) Bellcock of Sac City, IA, Sandra (Arnold) Bauer of Spencer, WI, Cheryl (Earl) McBride of Arnolds Park, IA, Larry (Nancy) Bellcock of Sac City, IA, Richard (Kelli) Bellcock of Arnolds Park, IA; grandchildren: Stacy, Chris (Jamie), and Kyle Bellcock, Jason (Stephanie) and Shawn Bauer, Angela (Michael) Ketron, Jennifer (Brandon) Nelson, Kimberly (Aaron) Peimann, Faith (Joe) Leng, Joy (Michael) Kanne, Joshua (Melissa) Bellcock, Jessica (Matt) Golwitzer, Justin (Stephanie) Bellcock; great grandchildren: Ryan Bellcock, Hudson and Hadley Bellcock, Jackson Bellcock, Erin, Matthew, and Rachel Vollmer, Brian (fiancé Ashley) and Bradley Bauer, Timothy and Jonathan Bauer, Iris and Madigan Peimann, Charlie and Ellen Kanne, Clayton, Gavin, and Sofia Leng, Anna and Brooks Bellcock, Gage and Grant Golwitzer, Brylie, Bristol and Breckyn Bellcock; great-great grandchildren: Zachary, Adrianna, Hayden, Carly, and Blake; sisters: Marita (Bernard) Meiners of Coon Rapids, IA, Dorothy (Maurice) Eickman of Templeton, IA, Delores (Robert) Nagl of Carroll, IA, Ella Mae (Dale) Bueltel of Manilla, IA, Betty Monson of Fulton, MO, Janet (William) Hastings of Bend, OR; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
