Robert Lee Corbin, age 70, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Robert was born on July 13, 1947, to Lois (Crook) and Lloyd Corbin Jr. in Boone, IA, and was raised in Des Moines, IA.
On November 26, 1966, Robert was married to Irene Obman at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. This union was blessed with five children. Robert worked a few jobs but settled in as a professional truck driver. He drove through most of the states for over 30 years and then retired in 2012, due to health issues.
Robert loved to fish, watch NASCAR, and enjoyed taking his golf cart out for rides. He drove the Twilight Acres Nursing Home van for a while after he retired, and he loved talking and catching up with his different clients. Robert was proud of his family and always enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Robert leaves behind his wife, Irene; sons: Jerry Corbin, and Jeffrey (Denise) Corbin; daughter Mindy (Kurt) Benson; grandchildren: Terilyn, Wyatt, Kipp, Britteny, Austin, Emily, Joshua, and “Gpa” to Danielle, Jennifer and Joe; two great-grandchildren; brothers: Marvin (Shelly) Corbin, Tom (Mary) Corbin, Jack (Marilyn) Corbin; sisters: Bev Roberts, Mary Lea (Don) Moore and Judy (Dwight) Nernes; family friend/daughter Rachel Gerdes; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Michelle; infant son, Scott; his parents; and brothers: Virgil, Ronald, and Kenneth Corbin.
