Bonnie Jean Aschinger was born July 7, 1927 in Arcadia, IA. She was the daughter of William and Vera (Stoffers) Aschinger. Bonnie was baptized and a member of the Wheatland Presbyterian Church and later transferred her membership to the Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View where she resided. Growing up, she went to country school in the Odebolt area until her family moved to Wall Lake where she graduated in 1944.
Following high school graduation, Bonnie married Robert Rodman Sr. Together, they had two children: Robert Jr. and Beth Ann. Bonnie worked at the insurance office for three years and Farmers State Bank in Lake View for 33 years. She married E. P. Kettering “Ket” of Lake View in March of 1975. She enlarged her family that day to include three more children: Steve Kettering, Michael Kettering and June Manary. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Oak Harbor Golf Club; Garden Club and Homemakers Club.
Bonnie loved to dance, do crafts, play cards and fish with Ket at their summer home in Baudette, MN. They were “motor homers” and loved to travel. In her later years, she enjoyed gambling at Winnavegas, eating out, and going for rides. Bonnie treasured going to her great grandchildren’s activities and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Bob (Becki) Rodman of Whiting, IA; step children: Steve Kettering of Lake View, IA; June (Doug) Manary of Mt. Sterling, IA; daughter-in-law, Lois Kettering of Lake View, IA; ten grandchildren: Robin (Gary) Holtz; Kelly Parsley (fiancé, Rick Archer); Trent Rodman (fiancé, Ashley Ramm); Tonia (Jeff) Johnson; Travis (Sandy) Tebben; Trish (Shawn) Walton; Cort (Jennifer) Stargell; Kyle (Heather) Manary; Ket (Jill) Manary; and Lance (Denise) Kettering; 19 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ket; parents; William and Vera Aschinger; daughter, Beth Ann Tebben; step son, Michael Kettering and great grandson, Preston Walton.
