Duane Peyton, age 79 of Lytton, IA, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, with his family by his side. Duane Clarence Peyton was born on July 25, 1938, to parents Clarence and Vera (Eaton) Peyton on their family farm in Lytton. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church. Duane attended both grade school and high school in Lytton and graduated Lytton High with the class of 1956.
On July 20, 1958, Duane married the love of his life, Patricia Ringgenberg, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lytton. This union was blessed with three children, Kim, Brenda, and Dan. Duane and Pat were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary next July. Duane drove truck many years for Glasnapp Transfer before farming his family farm. He also enjoyed his years working at Marjo’s Flower Shop.
He loved gardening and was quite well-known for his amazing tomatoes and beautiful geraniums that he grew in his greenhouse. Duane and Pat spent many Saturdays at the Des Moines farmers market where they sold their produce and flowers. Above all, Duane loved being with his family. He was a great husband and father. The role of Grandpa was one that he thoroughly enjoyed and was very proud of. Duane will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Pat; children: Kim (Clayton) Fjerstad of Lytton, IA, Brenda (Bob) Beneke of Palmer, IA, and Dan (Missie) Peyton of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren: Brooke (Jay) Pacelli, Alyson Beneke, Cassie Fjerstad, and Carolyn (Michael) Watkins; great granddaughter Maggie Pacelli; sisters-in-law: Carolyn (Gerry) Stille and Jeanne (Larry) Randolph; many extended family members and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Vera Peyton; in-laws: Clarence and Rachel Ringgenberg; and brother-in-law Dean Ringgenberg.
