Norman Eugene Just, age 61, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. A celebration of life visitation was held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017, at the VFW Hall in Sac City. Special memories of Norm were shared and written down to put in a scrapbook to be given to Noah in honor of his Dad.
Norm was born on January 8, 1956, to Merlin and Phyllis (Uren) Just in Sac City, IA. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1974 and completed his Associates Degree at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. He was Homecoming King in 1974 and feared linebacker by opponents in high school and at Iowa Central. On November 7, 1999, Norm was baptized at the First Christian Church in Sac City.
Norm was a self employed, owner/operator truck driver. He enjoyed the freedom of being self employed and would also help others by pushing snow off their driveways in the winter months. He was a life long citizen and supporter of his hometown and school. He enjoyed working with children, and coached his son’s baseball team. There are many kids in Sac City with fond memories of Coach Norm. Sac City was his home and he never spent too many days away from here, and wouldn’t have wanted to. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and was an avid collector of many things. He liked spending time with his many friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He loved his children and grandchildren and his constant companions, his two dogs, Reba and Freckle Beard. Survivors include his children: Andrea (Jessica) Grimm of Pella, IA, Chance(Mandi) Just of Sac City, Noah Just of Sac City and Noah’s sister Paige Dierenfeld; three grandchildren: Hannah, Bailee, and Levi Grimm; his siblings; and extended family members.
As Norm would say to his kids, “Never forget to say I Love You.”
