Helen Lorraine Ringgenberg, age 93, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Helen was born on September 10, 1920, to Carl and Bertha (Leege) Matter on the family farm in Sac County, IA. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed her faith at Emanuel Lutheran Church south of Lytton. She grew up on the farm, attended country school and graduated from Lytton High School.

On June 6, 1939 Helen and Roy Ringgenberg were united in marriage at Emanuel-St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lytton. This union was blessed with seven children: Connie, Bonnie, Arlin, Rita, Don, Reggie and Renae. They made their home on an acreage northwest of Sac City.

Helen was a busy mom and caregiver. She enjoyed having family and friends come visit and cooking all their favorite meals. She provided a loving home for her family, crocheting, sewing, embroidering and quilting many lovely things for her home and for gifts. She also enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, fishing, sports, and was an avid Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) fan. Helen was a wonderful mom and grandmother who cherished all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was thrilled to be a great-great grandmother. Her friendly smile will be missed by many who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children: Bonnie (Marlin) Henson of Sac City, IA; Arlin (Geri) Ringgenberg of Nemaha, IA; Rita (Tom) Kingsbury of Sioux City, IA; Don Ringgenberg of Sac City, IA; Reggie (Lesa) Ringgenberg of Sac City, IA, and Renae Wirtjers (Cole Long) of Sac City, IA; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
