Donald M. Gullett, age 78, of Wall Lake, Iowa, died on August 4, 2017, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Donald Mansfield Gullett, the son of Morris and Martha (Tilden) Gullett, was born in New Albany, Indiana, on August 21, 1938. He lived his youth and received his education in New Albany. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves from October 6, 1956, until September 23, 1964.
On December 10, 1961, Don was united in marriage to Frances Kay Hedberg at Wall Lake, IA and to this union four children were born: Tim, Troy, Todd, and Gay. Don and Fran’s married lifetime has been spent in the Wall Lake community where Don was part owner and a mechanic with Albrecht Oil and Feed for nearly 50 years. Don was never idle and enjoyed his work and giving everyone a hard time when they stopped by the station. Hobbies of Don’s included hunting, fishing, watching sports on television, supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes and reading. He was a faithful member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Don’s life is honored, celebrated and cherished by his family which include his wife of 55 years, Fran, of Wall Lake, his sons: Tim (Cherri) Gullett of Lake View, IA, Troy (Lisa) Gullett of Lake View, IA, Todd (Lisa) Gullett of Wall Lake, IA, his daughter: Gay (Bill) Pardekooper of Altoona, IA, his grandchildren: Holly (Kurt) Lake, Ashley (Tony) Hogrefe, Brandi and Justin, Evan, Drew, Regan, Jack, Cain, Jacob, Gabe and Libby, his great grandchildren: Jase, Tommy, Alli, Hayden, Bailey, Jaiden, Piper, Briley and Carter , his brothers: Morris, John, Randy, and Robert Gullett, Frank Tilden, and Stephen Treskot, Jr., his sisters: Bonnie Jean Maddox, Evelyn Hale, and Carol Drouillard, his half-sister: Stephanie Sondergard, other extended family and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Martha, his step-mother Bertha, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ernest and Corrine Hedberg, his sisters: Martha Ann and Susan Treskot, and his brother: Ronald.
