Stephanie “Steve” Theresa Buckley, age 71, of Lytton, IA, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA, Steve was born on December 16, 1945, one of fifteen children, to Emmett and Helen (Wiewel) Fitzgerald in Storm Lake, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith and a member of St. Mary’s Parrish in Sac City.
Steve grew up in the Fonda area where she graduated from high school. She went on to Carroll, IA, for an additional year of schooling.
In November 1965, Steve was united in marriage to Jerry Buckley. They made their home in Lytton and were blessed with four children: Amy, Greg, Kirk, and Derek. She worked many years as a waitress at the Villager Restaurant and then later at Subway in Sac City. She always had a friendly smile and greeting for everyone. She made many lifelong friends and will be dearly missed.
Steve loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Coming from a large family, when Steve and all her siblings would get together at her folks home, it was always a little crazy and a fun time for all. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. When she wasn’t too busy chasing kids around she enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Buckley of Lytton; her children: Amy (Alan) Kearnes of St. Joseph, MO, Greg (Julie) Buckley of Eaton, CO, Kirk Buckley of Spencer, IA, and Derek Buckley of Sac City; grandchildren: Zach and Megan Brayton; Taylor, Noah, Samuel, Tia, Mali, and Liam Buckley; Carter Buckley; and Jaden and Brianna Buckley; and great-great grandchild, Delilah Hibben. Other survivors include her brothers: Sharon Fitzgerald, Tim Fitzgerald, and Mike Fitzgerald; her sisters: Judy Platten, Pat Corey, Rebecca Spiess, Jackie Schuttler, and Kelly Kelly; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Steve was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Terry Fitzgerald, Penny Wilde, Tony Fitzgerald, Sue Imming, Sidney Champion and Rodney Fitzgerald.
