Jackie D. Covey, age 34, of Omaha, NE, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, in her home in the loving embrace of her husband and surrounded by family. Jackie was born on December 13, 1982, in Manning, IA, to Cynthia Brotherson and John Burns. She was baptized and confirmed at the Arthur United Methodist Church.
    Jackie graduated from Schaller-Crestland High School in 2001.  While in High School, Jackie was active in volleyball and softball. She excelled academically and graduated a semester early.  In December of 2000, Jackie moved to Orlando, FL, with her boyfriend, at the time, Jerad Covey. Shortly thereafter, they adopted their lifelong dog, Kea.
    In Orlando, Jackie attended Cosmetology School where she became very talented in make-up artistry, which came in handy for several family and friends’ weddings and special occasions. While working cosmetology counters, she found her passion for bettering the workplace in order to enhance employee morale, efficiency, and productivity. In 2003, she decided to attend Valencia Community College. In 2005 she completed her Psychology associates degree with honors. That same year, Jackie and Jerad moved to Omaha, NE, and married on August 28, 2005, at Summit Church in Alta, IA.
    Once settled in Omaha, Jackie attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha receiving her Bachelor of Science in Psychology Cum Laude in 2007 and her Masters of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology in 2009. Jackie was an active SIOP-UNO Member, where she created fond memories through a network of friends and coworkers. Throughout her college career, Jackie worked to enhance her professional skills in order to make the most impact once she graduated.
    In various positions throughout her professional career, Jackie’s passion thrived being able to serve not only the companies she worked for, but also the employees themselves. It was her mission to make their workplaces better.
    In Jackie’s personal life, she spent much time with her husband Jerad and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew, family and friends. Most notable though, Jackie lived a selfless life serving others. She remembered small details that meant the world to others, was thoughtful, created long-lasting and impactful relationships, and took care of those around her. She was and always will be a role model in the way she chose to live life. Jackie will forever remain an Angel in the hearts of many.
    Survivors include her husband Jerad Covey of Omaha, NE; mother and step-father Cindy and Bryon Segebart of Schaller, IA, step-father Pat Carstensen of Early, IA; siblings Chris Blum of Springfield, CO, Jill Manson of Galva, IA, Kelli (Josh) Berg of Early, IA; grandparents Howard and Delores Brotherson of Wall Lake, IA; parents-in-law James and Mary Covey of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law Megan (Chase) Zickefoose of Omaha, NE; nieces and nephews Kale Manson, Elyza Manson, Jacquelyn Hayden, Lincoln Berg, Lauren Berg, and Zara Zickefoose; several extended family members and friends.
    Jackie was preceded in death by her father John ‘Rabbit’ Burns, uncle David Brotherson, uncle Mark Brotherson, cousin Patrick Brotherson, uncle Monte Burns, grandparents John & Mary Burns, uncle-in-law Terry Juliar, grandparents-in-law Stan & Corinne Covey, and grandparents-in-law Keith & Delores Nissen.
