Darrel Ferdinand Obman, age 81, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, IA. Darrel was born on February 1, 1936, in Carroll, IA, to Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Kies) Obman. He was baptized in February 1936 and confirmed his faith in 1949 at the Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, IA. He completed his elementary education at Viola #6 Country School in Carnarvon and graduated from Lake View High School with the class of 1954.
Darrel was united in marriage in Wall Lake, IA, to Norma Frisbie in 1955. This union was blessed with three daughters: Londa, Jann, and Robin.
Darrel was a farmer. He loved the farm life, tending to his crops, and raising cattle and pigs. He also enjoyed building model airplanes, playing golf, fishing, dancing with his beautiful wife, puzzles, and early morning coffee with friends at Kathy’s Korner. Darrel was one of the original members of the Lake View Men’s Club and also served on the Farm Bureau Field Committee. Most of all, he loved his family. He treasured spending time with his wife, daughters and their families and following their activities. His memory will remain in their hearts forever.
Survivors include his daughters: Londa Law of Carnarvon, IA, and Robin Obman of Lake View, IA (special friend Brian Seuntjens); five grandchildren: Josh Clark of Carroll, IA, Jacob Clark of Omaha, NE, Jennifer (Ryan) Brockman of St. Charles, IA, Katie (Josh) Zimmerman of Auburn, IA, and Corie (Richard) Collins of Des Moines, IA; five great-grandchildren: Keagen Meyer, Paige Zimmerman, Chase and Evan Brockman, and Cecilia Collins; several nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; wife Norma; daughter Jann Meyer; brother Donald Obman; niece Victoria Obman; and nephew Rodney Obman.
