Wayne Arlo Batz, age 80, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Arlo was born on August 12, 1936, in Lake City, IA, to Merle and Marjorie (Archer) Batz.
Arlo was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church in Lytton, IA, and later became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City. He went to school in Lytton and graduated from Lytton High School. Arlo served in the National Guard from 1956-1958. On March 22, 1958, Arlo married Verna Mae Morton at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with four children: Robin, Randal, Renita, and Rayett.
Arlo farmed and drove truck all of his life. He loved flying airplanes, being outdoors, farming, and doing mechanic work. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to polka and country western, watching western movies and baseball games, and reading the newspaper. Arlo will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Mae; children: Robin Kruckenberg (Alex Logelin) of Sac City, IA, Randal (Christine) Batz of Sac City, IA, Renita Batz (Mark Hansen) of Lake City, IA, and Rayett Batz (Jerry Gregg) of Lake City, IA; grandchildren: Jeremiah (Trisha), Michael, and Joshua Kruckenberg, Brock, Ethan, Alison, Jacquelyn, and Sarah Batz, Drew Vande Stouwe, Ariana and MacKinsey Batz, Mariah (Lance) Martens, and Keaton and Prezley Gregg; great-grandchildren: Trey and Shalea Kruckenberg, Maddisen and Nathanial Kruckenberg, and Skyler and Aries Kruckenberg; brother Eugene (Izetta) Batz; aunt Maryann (Leo) Johnson of Ft. Worth, TX; nephew Doug (Robin) Batz, niece Rebecca (Chris) Wedman, brother-in-law Richard (Sonja) Morton, nephew Brett (Stacy) Morton, niece Sharla Morton, and many extended family members and friends.
Arlo is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Marjorie Batz, and nephew Steve Batz.
