Beverly Jean Dumdei, age 84, of Carnarvon, IA, passed into eternal life on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Beverly was born in Dow City, IA, on July 14, 1932, to Orville Guy and Gertrude (Bramley) Argotsinger. Beverly was baptized and confirmed at the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Deloit, IA. She later became a member of the Carnarvon Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school and was active in the Ladies Aid. She had been in ill health for the past several years and is now resting in peace.
Beverly attended elementary school in Deloit and graduated from Denison High School. She continued her education at AIB in Omaha, NE. On August 17, 1949, Beverly was united in marriage to Merle Wayne Dumdei in Deloit. This union was blessed with five children: Diana, Roger, Daniel, Don, and Sharon. Beverly worked for many years as secretary, bookkeeper and receptionist at Ronald Meyer Popcorn Company and Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake before retiring May of 1990.
Beverly was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who cherished her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends and neighbors, and Bible studies. Beverly and Merle enjoyed traveling and going to Arizona in the winter. As a two time cancer survivor she was an active supporter of the Relay for Life serving as a counselor to other women dealing with breast cancer. She especially loved watching the birds in the back yard and looking at Merle’s flower garden that he made especially for her.
Survivors include her husband, Merle Wayne Dumdei of Carnarvon; children: Diana and husband Arthur Rowe of Bettendorf, IA, Don and wife Sue of Waukee, IA, and Sharon of Nevada, IA; her sister Vera Talcott of Omaha, NE; brother Wendell Argotsinger of Denison, IA; grandchildren: Jennifer O’Neill, Kerry (Brandon) Goldsberry, Aaron (Christina) Shay, Christopher (Lisa) Dumdei, Nathan Dumdei, Sarah (Chad) West, Katie (Jayson) Gunn, and Ryan Lenihan; great-grandchildren: Maddox and Clara Goldsberry; Quinlan Shay; Tyler and Ashlynn Dumdei; Addyson and Aiden Gunn; and Katherine West; many extended family members and friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Roger and Daniel; and granddaughter Marjorie O’Neill.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer society.
