     Marvin E. Tiefenthaler, age 92, of Early, IA passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, IA.

     Marvin was born at his home in Carroll County on December 25, 1924, to parents Jacob and Mary Tiefenthaler. He graduated from Early High School in 1942. Marvin married Rita Bengford on February 19, 1946, in Schaller, IA. This union was blessed with ten children: Marcia, Jim, Roger, Ruth, Peggy, Marla, Mary, Carol, Tim, and Lisa.

     Marvin devoted his life to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He always welcomed guests to his home and he had the ability to make them feel welcomed and loved. Marvin’s life revolved around his wife and family. He loved playing cards with his friends and family and enjoyed visiting the Legion. Marvin loved having visitors drop by. He loved the land…farming it and raising cattle on it. Marvin was always thankful to live one more day of life. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Marcia Jurgens of Anza, CA, Jim (Dianne) Tiefenthaler of Early, Roger (Stacey) Tiefenthaler of Early, Ruth (Jeff) Frederickson of Storm Lake, Peggy (Brad) Petersen of Early, Marla (Paul) Voelker of Mitchell, SD, Mary (Tom) Brown of Mountain Lake, MN, Carol (Larry) Garrison of Alta, Tim (Angie) Tiefenthaler of San Francisco, CA, and Lisa (John) Peterson of Sioux City; 37 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren; sister Wilma Feilmeier of Early; sister-in-law Eileen (Lou) Cass of Dunlap; brother-in-law Raymond Bengford of Deloit; and many extended family members and friends.

     Marvin is preceded in death by the love of his life wife, Rita; granddaughters Gina Jurgens and Nicole Garrison; parents Jacob and Mary Tiefenthaler; brothers Elmer, Urban, Emery, and Lester; and sisters Alma and Irene.

“So sorry to hear of his loss my thoughts and prayers to all of you (family). I never will forget all the times spent at the family farm, it was a great experience to have from the old ford tractor driving to helping with family chores, to never missing a family meal at noon with that never forgotten homemade bread!! then after dinner to a card game and never back to work with out that 15 min nap lol. Your folks were one of a kind that always made guest first. Both will be missed.”
