Cornelia Faye “Kip” Spurling, age 76, of Sac City, IA, passed away on February 5, 2017, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Kip was born on September 24, 1940, to Andrew and Lorna Telfer. She was baptized and confirmed at the Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, IA, and later became a member of the First Christian Church in Sac City. Kip attended grade school in Fonda, IA, and high school in Storm Lake.
On October 26, 1957, Kip was united in marriage to William “Bill” Spurling at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. This union was blessed with 3 children: Colleen, Jeff, and Kim. Kip had a love for many things…playing golf in the Ladies and Senior Leagues, going to casinos, reading, playing “Bubbletown” on her computer, gardening, bird watching and she was an excellent cook. The family will always remember her homemade noodles as well as her delicious macaroni and cheese. Kip was also a member of the local Wa-Tan-Ye organization.
Together, Bill and Kip owned and ran Sac City Farm & Home from 1975 until they sold and retired in 2005. Kip was very artistic, she loved painting and took amazing, award-winning pictures. She was a part of the Sac County Fair Photography Department and over the years entered many of her photos in the fair, receiving many ribbons. Kip loved her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; children: Jeff (Carmen) Spurling of Brandon, SD, and Kim (Brad) Olson of Lytton, IA; sister: Phyllis (Ron) Warren of Humboldt, IA; nine grandchildren: Megan (Matt) Larsen, Kylie Spurling, Jaeden Spurling, Jensen Spurling, Teagan Magnus, Logan Magnus, Andrew (Lacey) Schuur, Amanda Schuur (Cody Menke), Alec Thiele (Ashley Meade); four great-grandchildren: Levi, Mason and Ella Larsen, Brayden Menke; and many extended family members and friends.
Kip was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lorna, and her daughter, Colleen Spurling.
