     Elsie Rose Souder, age 82, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA.  Elsie was born on January 14, 1934, in Sac County, IA, to Leo and Dorothy (Roeder) Drilling.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake where she remained a life-time member.  Elsie graduated from Lake View High School.

     On December 26, 1955, Elsie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Souder.  They were blessed with four children: Dave, Sue, Joe and Jim.  Elsie was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her family and home brought her great joy.  She enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren and family gatherings.  When Elsie lived in Omaha she had the most perfect yard and garden on the block.  She loved gardening and planting flowers.

     She worked as an office manager for Dale Carnegie and was much honored to have worked for him.  As a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Elsie served for many years in the Guild.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

     Survivors include her children: Dave (Cathy) Souder of Omaha, NE, Sue Steiger of Torrington, CT, Joe (Kelly) Souder of Omaha, NE, and Jim (Nicole) Souder of Carroll, IA; grandchildren: Steffany (Todd) Crouse, Brandon (Holli) Steiger, Brooke (Travis) Major, Nick Souder, Steve Steiger, Sarah (Kyle) Martin and Michelle (Zach) Petersen; great-grandchildren: Crimson Crouse, Riley and Mason Steiger and Makenna Steiger; brother Robert Drilling of Lake View, IA; sister Alice Werkmeister of Lake View, IA; and many extended family members.

     Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin Souder; sister Carol Flynn; and brothers: Jim and Larry Drilling.
