     Glenn Gene Poen of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.  Glenn was born on July 13, 1952, to Alvin and Ila (Schulte) Poen in Carroll, IA.  Glenn was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake.  He graduated at Lake View Auburn High School and from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.

     On September 22, 1973, Glenn was united in marriage to Mary Jo Renze at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn, IA.  Glenn and Mary were blessed with four children, Laurie, Teresa, Andy and Nathan.

     Glenn had a love for many things, farming, traveling, gambling, playing euchre, going to the grandkids games, cooking and family meals.  But most of all he loved being with his family and friends.  He was very proud of his grandkids and loved teasing them and giving them a hard time.

     Survivors include Glenn’s wife, Mary; children: Laurie (Larry) Mohr of Sac City, IA, Teresa (Travis) Schmitt of Lake View, IA, Andy (Ashley) Poen of Odebolt, IA, Nathan Poen (Kari Keyser) of Dallas, TX; brothers: Ron (Angela) Poen of Fairview, TX, Gary (Becky) Poen of Nodaway, IA;  sister-in-law Donna (Chris) Schafer of Adair, IA; grandchildren: Joseph, Michael, Amber, Maria and Christopher Mohr all of Sac City, IA, Hannah, Tyler and Katelyn Schmitt all of Lake View, IA, Axl and Jacob Poen of Odebolt, IA, and many extended family members and friends.

     Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Ila Poen; brother Wayne Poen, sister Ethel Gibilisco, and parents-in-law Frank and Mildred Renze.

So sorry to hear about Glen's passing. It is always tough to see someone you love leave this world, but he is in heaven with God and is at rest. I always enjoyed see both of you at the feed mill. He was a great story teller and loved to make people laugh. I know you have had some trying times with health issues but remember the good times you shared. Lots of wonderful memories, as well as struggles. These are the growing pains of life and Glen is in a much better place.

Prayers for you all in the weeks to come, that all goes well in this stressful period.
