Francis Michael Olerich, age 82, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.  Francis was born on September 6, 1934, in Auburn, IA, to Earnest and Bernice (Balk) Olerich.  He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.  He received his elementary education at Mt. Carmel Catholic School and graduated from Lake View High School.

Following graduation he was inducted into the United States Army serving from 1954 to 1956.  On June 3, 1957, Francis was united in marriage to Eleanor Ann Gosch at St. Joseph Catholic church. They made their home in Wall Lake.  This union was blessed with five children: Jacquie, Mike, Pam, Jennifer, and Jill.

Francis worked hard to provide for his family, working for many years as manager at the lumber yard in Lake View.  He was a devoted husband and father who treasured celebrating family events, going fishing, playing cards, taking care of his garden, and keeping his car clean. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and his fondest memories included trips to Colorado and Disney World with his kids and grandkids where he rode all of the rides.

Survivors include his wife Eleanor; children: Jacquie (Dr. Ray) Kiefer of Muskegon, MI, Mike (Zena) Olerich of Odebolt, Pam Olerich of Indianapolis, IN, Jennifer (Brett) Ploessel of Denver, CO, and Jill (Tyson) Fehr of Highlands Ranch, CO; siblings: Ron (Sharon) Olerich of Lake View, IA, Jack (Betty) Olerich of Carroll, IA, and Carol (Darwin) Roth of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Regina and Anna Kiefer, Dani (Sean) McGee, Bayle, Morgan and Lexi Olerich, Jack and Michael Ploessel, Jake and Kate Fehr; and many extended family members.

Francis is proceeded in death by his parents Earnest and Bernice Olerich, brother Charles Olerich, and granddaughter Macy Olerich.

We are glad we got to visit with Frannie at the nursing home before we traveled south. We are saddened at your loss of a good husband and father/grandfather. He was a high school classmate of Jim's.”

“I am very sorry to hear of your loss. The lost of a loved one grieves the heart and words are never enough to take away the pain. However, our Heavenly Father knows your grief. As a loving and caring Father, He will be there to comfort and sooth your "broken-heart and crushed spirit". ( Psalm 34:18 ). May you find comfort and hope in God's promise of a day when you will reunite with your loved one again. ( Isaiah 26:19 ). My sincere condolences to the family.”

“It breaks my gear to hear that Francis passed away. I am happy to know though that he is in a much better place in heaven. My sister and I loved going to Francis' home when we were little. He would always go fishing, and Ellie would cook the best fish for lunch! He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.”
