     Raymond John Freese, age 82, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View under Hospice Care.

     Ray was born on April 29, 1934, in Crawford County, IA, the son of Bennie and Angie (Tebben) Freese. 

     As an infant, he was baptized at Wheatland Presbyterian Church.  In 1959 he confirmed his faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.

     He attended Lake View Public School.  In 1952, Ray entered the United States Navy serving in the Korean Conflict.  He earned a Good Conduct Medal and the rank of MM3 when he was honorably discharged in 1956.

     On November 23, 1960, Ray was united in marriage to LaVon Hanke at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minnesota.

     In his earlier years he worked at IBP.  From 1972 until retirement he worked as a self-employed trucker.  Upon retirement he enjoyed restoring tractors and tractor rides.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his wife LaVon Freese of Lake View; his sisters: Doris (Sidney) Nelson of Wall Lake, Betty Wessman of Lake View and Marjean (Michael) Riedell of Sac City; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

     Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Angie Freese; sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Everett Buse; brother-in-law James Wessman and great-nephew Jeffrey Renze.
