Leora Bernice Bettin, age 89, of Odebolt, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA.
Leora was born August 4, 1927, in Sac County, IA. She was adopted by Fred and Augusta Kutz when she was 11 years old. On September 30, 1949, Leora was united in marriage to Donald Bettin. This union was blessed with two children, Darwyn and Carol. Don and Leora made their home on a farm North of Odebolt for 26 years before moving to Odebolt in 1977.
Leora was a stay at home house wife and a devoted spouse to her husband Donald for 67 plus years. She adored her two children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Leora was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years.
She leaves behind her husband, Donald Bettin of Odebolt; son Darwyn and wife Mary of Early; daughter Carol Focht and husband James of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren: Heather (Mike) Spetman of Odebolt, Amber (Matt) Martin of West Des Moines, and Thomas Focht of Oklahoma City; four great-grandchildren: Caden, Mahaela, and Charlie Spetman and Emma Martin. Other survivors include her sisters: Marvel Rosdail and Lois Farmer; and many extended family members.
Leora was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Russell Barr, Jr., and Everett Barr; sisters: Fidella Hoberman and Ruth Layman.
