Margaret Elaine Fairchild, age 69, formerly of Lake View, passed away Sunday August 21, 2016 in Waycross, GA after a struggle with stomach cancer.

In 1969, Margaret married John Fairchild of Ida Grove, IA. The couple had two sons. In 1983, after her first and successful battle with cancer, the family relocated to Denison, IA where Margaret worked for many years at the Denison Job Corps Center, retiring in 2010. She spent retirement up to her final illness in Tequisquiapan, Mexico where she taught English and made friends from all over the world.

Margaret dedicated her professional life to social development and her personal life to genealogy, arts and crafts, travel, her family, and her friends. She will be remembered for her joy of life; her dedication to those she loved and, most of all, her strength.

Spencer Fairchild, and Daniel (Teresa) Fairchild; her grandson, Wesley Fairchild; her siblings: Mark (Thalya) Hanson, Earl (Janet) Hanson, Bryan (Dawn) Hanson, and Nina (Joel) DeKock; and her stepmother, Darlene Hanson.

Margaret’s family and friends would like to thank her doctors, nurses and Ms. Jo Williams at Ms. Jo’s Personal Care Home in Waycross, GA for making Margaret’s final days as comfortable as possible.

“Dear Hanson Family,
Karlene and I were deeply saddened to hear of Margaret's passing. We, too, have lost a dear sister to cancer, and curse that disease every day. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Lake View was a great place for us to grow up, and the long-time friendships are certainly cherished, especially at times like this. May God comfort you. We'll be praying for His peace to surround you and carry you through the challenging days and weeks ahead. Your friends, Karla Kearney and Karlene Nuss”

We cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this very difficult time. It is our sincere hope you find comfort in knowing that God has promised to "swallow up death forever" (Isaiah 25:8), and that he will resurrect our dear loved ones who have passed away. (John 5:28). May your many great memories help you find peace and comfort as you go through the coming days
