Norbert “Bing” William Miller, age 82, of Lake View, IA, passed away on June 19, 2014, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, IA. Bing was born in Breda, IA, on September 20, 1931, to his loving parents, William and Mary (Bruning) Miller. Bing attended grade school and high school in Breda. Later he enlisted in the Navy.
On August 23, 1958, Bing was united in marriage to Velma Jean (Riedesel) Miller in Maryville, MO. They were blessed with two children, a daughter Jean and a son Doug.
Bing worked hard to provide for his family. He worked as a mechanic for tractor and diesel machinery. As a hobby, he enjoyed doing small engine repair. He also enjoyed trains, puzzles and gardening. Bing was also an active member of the American Legion. No matter what he was doing, he always made time for his family and cherished his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Velma; son Doug Miller, Lake View, IA; daughter Jean Lamaak, Pomeroy, IA; brother Archie (Diane) Miller, AK; sisters: Eunice Rice, Carroll, IA, Alice (Joe) Kenkel, Blair, NE, and Mary Lou (Dan) Hermsen; two grandchildren: Ashley (Mitchell) Nevins, NC, and Justin (Katie) Lamaak, Jefferson, IA; two great-grandchildren: Grace and Charity Nevins and many extended family members and friends.
