     Christopher Dale Murley, age 48, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Loring Hospital in Sac City following a courageous battle with cancer.  Chris was born on February 21, 1968, to Dale and Shirly (Savage) Murley in Sac City.  He graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1987.  He completed his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge in 1988.

     On September 5, 1992, Chris was united in marriage to Kelly Parker at the United Methodist Church in Sac City.  This union was blessed with two sons: Adam and Andrew.  They made their home in Sac City.

     Chris started working for Gomaco in 1988 and then for Sac Surveying with Bud and Jo Vote.  Later he worked for Kuehl & Payer LTD in Sac City before becoming an assistant engineer for the Sac County Engineer’s Office.  He loved to work on old cars and enjoyed farming and fishing.  Chris was very active in all his boys activities.  He was active in the community serving on the Sac City Summer Rec Board, a Boy Scout Leader, and member of the Pork Producers Board.  As a member of the United Methodist Church, he served on the board and as youth leader.  He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family and cherished every moment he had with them.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

     Survivors include his wife, Kelly; two sons: Adam Murley and fiancée Tiffany of Schaller and Andrew Murley of Sac City; his parents Dale and Shirly Murley of Sac City; and brothers: Duane Murley and wife Darcy of Rockwell City and Brett Murley and wife Tammi of Sac City.  Other survivors include his parents-in-law Robert and Margaret Parker of Sac City; sisters-in-law Kris Stoelting and husband Blaine of Sac City and Tracy Manning and husband Dwayne of Winthrop; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.  His faithful companion “Tater” also survived him.

     Chris was preceded in death by an infant daughter; grandparents: Wilson “Bill” Murley, Charles Savage, Nedra Dettman, and Bonnie Eggers; brother-in-law Don Beechler; uncle and aunt Frank and Evelyn Parker; and cousin-in-law Robert Parker.

“Chris was an awesome role model and was all about his community. When the boys were involved with sports and asked Chris how they did you heard about the whole team. He cared for everyone. We were blessed to have gotten to know Chris and the family with the ball league and having a son in the same class. Chris was the most positive person and team role model.
