    Joyce Ann (Borton) Taber, age 71, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Bright Kavanagh House, Des Moines, IA.

    Joyce was born August 31, 1944, to Harold and Lydia (Schultz) Borton in Marshalltown, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, IA, and attended New Providence High School in New Providence, IA, graduating with the class of 1962. 

    Joyce was united in marriage to Lyle Taber on February 14, 1964, in Hubbard, IA.  They were blessed with two sons, Tad and Bret.

    After moving to Sac City, Joyce worked for the Sac County REC as an office assistant for over 20 years, retiring in 2006.  Joyce was an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving on several boards and UMW groups.  She also volunteered her time at the Sac County Museum, was a member of WA-TAN-YE, and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels around town.  Joyce dearly loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

    Left to cherish her memory are her husband Lyle of Sac City, IA; sons: Tad (Debbie) Taber of McKinney, TX and Bret (Lisa) Taber of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Jeff Kriesel, Alex Kriesel, Morgan Taber and Atlee Taber; sister Judy (Darwin) Carlton of Raymore, MO; step-brother Dale (Freda) Meyer of Schaller, IA; brother-in-law Paul (Shirley) Taber of Conway, AR; sister-in-law Lynn Taber of Waterloo, IA; and numerous extended family and friends.

    Preceding her in death are her parents Harold and Lydia Borton, step-father Henry H. Meyer, and parents-in-law Paul and Elnora Taber.
