Judith Anne Lungren, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2016, at the Briarcliff Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in McAllen, TX.
Judith was born on November 23, 1938, in Essex, IA to Max and Dorothy (Aldrich) Currie. She was the only daughter in a family of five children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. Judith attended school in Essex, IA and graduated with the class of 1956.
On January 27, 1957, Judith was united in marriage to Robert Lungren in Essex, IA. This union was blessed with four children: Max (Nancy) Lungren of Ankeny, IA, Michael Lungren of Dallas, TX, Mark Lungren (Julie Miller) of Broomfield, CO and Michelle (Kevin) Bromley of Marshalltown, IA.
In her younger years she was quite the equestrian. She participated in rodeos throughout Iowa and Nebraska. She and her beloved horse "Foxy" were formidable foes in the barrel racing circuit.
Judy worked side by side with her husband at the Pet Store in Omaha, NE and in the Gambles Store in Lake View, while raising her children. She made certain that her children were involved in extracurricular activities and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. They made their home in Lake View for the past 46 years. Judy was an avid bowler, spent many hours on the golf course and had a love for reading. In retirement, Judy and Bob enjoyed winters in Mission, TX. Judy was a loving daughter, wife and mother. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Vinah Lungren; sisters and brothers-in-law: Arlene and Ellery Spicer and Joan and Frank Prorock.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; her four children; ten grandchildren: McKenzie Lungren, Benjamin Lungren, Nathan Lungren, Andrew Lungren, Matthew Lungren, Jennifer (Peter) Mattison, Stefanie (Hatim) Belfakih, Lindsay (Thomas) Cunningham, Steven (Kara) Bromley and Matthew Bromley; three great-grandchildren: Faith Mendoza, Connor Mattison and Noah Belfakih. Other survivors include brothers: John (Beverly) Currie of Columbus Junction, IA; Gene (Judy) Currie of Clover Dale, OR; George (Sandy) Currie of Essex, IA and Ken (Dawn) Currie of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
