Dennis Paul McAhren, age 68, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, at St. Lukes Hospital in Sioux City, IA. Dennis was born on January 15, 1947, to Don and Eunice (Rix) McAhren in Sac City. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1965 and lettered in football. After graduation he married the love of his life, Jan Larson on March 16, 1968.
He worked for Lear Siegler Manufacturing (Nobles) as a welder and then foreman until the plant closed. He then worked for Terracon for about 10 years and also Western Transit Union until his retirement.
Dennis’ true passions in life were family, friends and gardening. With a garden the size of a city block, he fed a part of Sac City for nearly 30 years. He loved to have fun and hosted many parties. Him and his friends even built a 30 foot room onto his house to accommodate all the people. He helped raise his three granddaughters and loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his cousin Sam McAhren of Waterloo; his wife; parents; and brother Bruce McAhren.
Survivors include his daughter JoAnna; granddaughters: Toni, Danelle, and Shawnee; great-grandchildren: Sophie, Max, Marissa, and Beau, all of Sac City; brother Leon of Waterloo; extended family members and many friends.
