   Mervin Leonard Johnson, age 90, of Sac City, IA, formerly of Indianola, IA, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA, from a heart attack.

   Mervin was born on August 9, 1925, on a farm in Swede Home, NE, the son of Bertha Caroline Lundgren “Lena” and Albert Ephraim Johnson.  He attended school through the eighth grade.  He was united in marriage to Marjorie Jean Johnson on June 9, 1946, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home where he remained a lifetime member.  Mervin farmed his parents land until 1957 near Swede Home and then worked for a power line company, Hoak Construction, for many years, traveling to many states around the country.  While living in Indianola he was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.  When Mervin had his initial heart attack, he retired from construction and moved to Sac City.  They wintered in Texas for 15 years, and loved to travel extensively throughout the country.  He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 12 out of Colorado for 55 years.

   He leaves his wife of 69 years, Marjorie Johnson of Sac City, IA; his sons: Jerome Johnson and wife Debra of Indianola, IA, Michael Ray Johnson and wife Barbara of Sac City, IA, Roderick Lee Johnson of Hinton, IA, and Kevin Leonard Johnson and wife Kristi of Pleasant Hill, IA; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Other survivors include his sister Carola Lucile Hopkin of Colorado; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Ruby Lundstrom, Bertha Anderson, Clarine Anderson, Marian Smith, and Alice Willets; and brothers: Ronald Johnson and Robert Johnson.

The family requests memorials to Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home, Nebraska.
