Gertrude Arlene Simpson, age 92, of Sac City, IA, died November 17, 2015, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.  Gertrude was born December 1, 1922, to Cleo Mason and Frances Corsaut Mason.  Gertrude grew up in the Sac City and Spencer area.

   Gertrude was united in marriage to Clive Simpson on December 12, 1938.  Their union was blessed with five children: Marcyne, Roger, Floyd, Marlyce and Mark.  The couple later adopted a son Paul.

   Left to cherish her memory include her children Marcyne and husband Royce Larsen of Alta, IA, Roger and wife Anna Simpson of Phoenix, AZ, Floyd and wife Diane Simpson of Springfield, MO, Marlyce and husband Chris Jensen of Perry, IA, Mark Simpson of Ogden, IA, and Paul and wife Michelle Simpson of Sheldon, IA; 13 grandchildren: Mylynn (Wade) Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD, Rhonda (Don) Crandell of Chandler, AZ, Frances Simpson of Austin, TX, Brenda Simpson of Phoenix, AZ, Clive W. Simpson of Phoenix, AZ, John Simpson of Phoenix, AZ, Shea (Tara) Simpson of Denver, CO, Nicole (Tim) Harrigan of Tucson, AZ, Dustin (Emily) Simpson of San Antonio, TX, Tina Fortney of TX, Laura Fortney of Des Moines, IA, Tim (Tracy) Simpson of Ogden, IA and Mark Simpson Jr. of Ogden, IA; six step-grandchildren: Kim  Larsen of Elgin, IL, Terri (Doug) Demers of Blair, NE, Cindy (Duane) Magnussen of Newell, IA, Doctors Amy (Joe) Crum of Greenbrier, AR, Dr. Matt Simpson of Springfield, MO, Scott Simpson of Springfield, MO; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.  Other survivors include her brother Jim (Ruth) Mason of Sac City; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   She was preceded in death by her husband Clive on August 21, 2014; her parents; two brothers Clifton Mason and Joe Mason; two sisters: Sally Malm and Mildred Williamson; and one grandchild Kent Simpson.
