Wilma V. Ramsey

Wilma V. Ramsey, age 90, of Sac City, IA passed away on Monday, July 1, 2014 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Wilma Viola Ramsey was born in Breda, IA to William and Bertha (Woodyard) Olerich on June 7, 1924. She grew up in rural Auburn and attended country school and was a graduate of Breda High School.

On December 18, 1949, Wilma was united in marriage to Lester Marcy Ramsey in Lake City, IA. This union was blessed with a son, Lynn William. They made their home in Sac City where Wilma worked for the Sac City Elementary School Food Service. She retired in 1998. On August 30, 2009, Wilma was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City where she remained a member.

Wilma was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid card player and was a member of several women’s clubs. She loved planting and having flowers on the farm. Wilma also enjoyed crafting and belonged to a “crafter of the month” club. She created scrapbooks for each grandchild as they grew up and loved attending all of their events. Wilma also was a great cook and loved to bake. We will all miss her Jiffy Rolls, rhubarb cream pies, and zucchini bread. She will be dearly missed by many who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Lynn (Marlene) Ramsey of Sac City; grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael) Thayer of Odebolt; Zachary Ramsey of Spencer; Christopher (Angela) Ramsey of Ankeny; and Tonya Ramsey of Sac City; great-grandchildren: Chanin Johnson; Aleisha, Bretten, and Denae Thayer; and Oliver and Declan Ramsey; sisters-in-law: Edna Myers of Lincoln, NE and Donna Ramsey of Nashville, TN; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
