Doris Lurrean Johnson, age 85, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Unity Point, Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, IA. Doris was born on January 1, 1930, in Lanesboro, IA, to Richard and Minnie (McCoy) Kraft. She graduated from Jolley High School in 1948.
Following graduation, Doris worked for the telephone company in Des Moines, until her marriage to Jack Johnson on December 30, 1950, in Sioux City, IA. They lived in Lisbon and Glidden before settling in Lake View in 1963. This union was blessed with five children: Craig, Kent, Jackie, Lurrean, and Carol.
Doris enjoyed gardening and canning with her family. She also enjoyed garage sales, crocheting, attic treasures, making prayer shawls, and loved family events. In her younger years she really enjoyed roller skating at Twin Lakes. Doris worked as a seamstress for the H&R Cleaners in Carroll where she worked until she retired.
Survivors include her husband Jack Johnson of Lake View; sons Craig Johnson of Bixby, OK, and Kent (Shannon) Johnson of Augusta, KS; daughters Jackie (Bob) Doughman of Council Bluffs, IA, Lurrean (Al) Bentley of Pegram, TN, and Carol (Dale) Gates of Council Bluffs, IA; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Other survivors include her brothers Kenny Kraft, Larry “Butch” Kraft, Kevin (Bess) Kraft, and Mark (Janice) Kraft; sisters Marge (Ed) Kast, Kay Schamel, Karen (Buzz) Ruby, and Linda “Susie” Reynolds; sister-in-law Karene Kraft; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Minnie Kraft; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Rosie Kraft; sister Marilyn Kraft in infancy; several aunts, uncles and great nieces and nephews.
