     Norma Arlene Ripley, age 87, of Sac City, IA, passed away at Loring Hospital in Sac City, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.  Norma was born on May 13, 1928, in Sac City, IA, to parents Joe and Eva Marie (Cheney) Hutchinson.  She was baptized and confirmed her faith at the Christian Church in Sac City.  Norma attended grade school and attended high school at Sac Community Schools.    While her formal education may have ended here, she gained a lifetime of education and laughter through her life with her beloved husband.

     On August 25, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arnold Ripley in Storm Lake, IA.  They were blessed with two children: Linda Kay and Arnold D. Ripley Jr.  She and her family made their home in Sac City.   Norma worked for Western Engineering Company in Harlan, IA for 21 years after raising her children. Norma traveled a lot for work with her husband, doing all kinds of construction work in several different states.  She later retired in 1993.

     Norma enjoyed dancing, making greeting cards, photo albums and baking.  She loved country music and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

     Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Arnold Dean Ripley, Sr.; son Arnold Dean Jr. (Bonnie) of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Dawn Christensen of Santa Clarita, CA, Chad (Jamie) Ripley of Wall Lake, IA, Brandy Ripley (Shaun Hansen) of Sac City, IA; step-grandchildren: John Thometz of Harlan, IA, Amy Thometz of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren: Allysha and Allyssa Vibbard, Tanner Tilley, Parker Christensen, Cadence Ripley; step great-grandchildren: Joel and Jaxson Cromwell, Averie and Bo Thometz, Katelynn and Abigail Dobbs; brother Robert (Bob) Hutchinson of Sac City, IA; sisters: Donita Hicks of Sac City, IA, Betty (Neal) Hanke of Topeka, KS; brothers-in-law: Bill Ripley of Las Vegas, NV, Paul (Margaret) Ripley of Alta, IA; sisters-in-law: Charolette Hutchinson of Sac City, IA, Laurel Goettsch of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lynette (Robert) Jacques of HI, Lois Hale of Humboldt, IA; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

     She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Kay; parents;  parents-in-law; son-in-law James Christensen;  grandson Todd Myers;  brothers: Paul, Everett, Eugene, Virgil, Dick, Billy, and Keith;  sisters: Charlotte Moore, Adah Bauer, and Maurine Stanford; brothers-in-law: Lawrence Bauer, Willis Stanford, Everett Hicks, Thomas E. Moore, Lawrence Edgington, Ivan Ripley, Don Goettsch, Dick Wagner, Howard Mordick; sisters-in-law: Betty Hutchinson, Carol Wagner, and Lois Edgington.
