Melba Marie Paysen Auen was born November 25, 1914, to William and Esther (Gustafson) Paysen. She was born in Sac County and lived in Sac County all her life residing most of that time in or near Wall Lake, IA.
She attended Wall Lake grade and high school and graduated from there in 1932.
Melba lived with her parents and worked by the day in various homes until her marriage to Eilert Auen in 1947 in Rochester, MN. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, was employed by the Wall Lake school system several years and did alterations and sewing out of her home.
Failing health made it necessary to move to Twilight Acres where she passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the age of 100 years and 10 months.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eilert; parents William and Esther Paysen; brothers: Harold and Lloyd; and sister Verna Sandbeck.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and many close friends.
