David L. Cole, age 80, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Loring Hospital in Sac City with his family by his side. David was born on January 6, 1935, to Harold and Minnie (Reveland) Cole in Forest City, IA. He was baptized in 1935 in Forest City and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View, IA on December 27, 1970.
David received his elementary education at Lake Mills, IA, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force proudly serving his country until June 2, 1970, when he retired due to a medical disability. He earned the rank of Tech Sergeant on July 1, 1969.
David was united in marriage to Norita K. Neal on January 25, 1958, in Clear Lake, IA. This union was blessed with two daughters, Deanna and Denise. The family moved quite extensively to where ever his duty called him: Spokane, WA, Anchorage, AK, Sioux City, IA, and Bellville, IL Following his retirement from the Air force, David and Norita moved to Lake View, IA, where he served as Justice of the Peace, and Lake View Police Officer. He was a member of the American Legion in Lake View and Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served as Council President. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who cherished his family and loved spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting and fishing; and was an avid Hawkeye Fan. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughters: Deanna Cole of Marion, IA; Denise (Dave) Woltman of Lake View; grandchildren: Kassandra Buse of Fremont, OH, Nicholas (Courtney) Woltman of St. Paul, MN, Brian Woltman of St. Louis Park, MN, and Emily Woltman of Spirit Lake, IA; two great-grandchildren: Gabriel and Christopher; brother Don (Delores) Cole; extended family members and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norita and sister Dorothy McLaughlin.
