Raymond Kies, age 92, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, IA. Ray was born on August 18, 1922 to Frank and Clara (Dierenfeld) Kies in Wall Lake, IA. He attended country school in Wall Lake and later joined the Army and served in World War II.
Ray was baptized and confirmed his faith at the Peace Lutheran Church. He continued to be a member of the church for many years and served as an Elder.
On September 4, 1949, Raymond was united in marriage to Maxine Buse at the Ulmer Country Church. They made their home south of Wall Lake where Ray farmed. Two daughters; Connie and Marilyn and four sons: Keith, Bruce, Milo and Stan were born to this union.
Ray was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to farm and be outdoors. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and trapping and gardening. He took pride in sharing his garden with the community. He was very active in the community and served as a school board member. Ray always attended the county fair and would talk and meet people everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughters: Connie (James) Fickel of Eugene, OR; Marilyn (Richard) Swircinski of Omaha, NE; Keith (Melodee) Kies of Lake View; and Bruce (Vickie) Kies of Blair, NE; IA; 17 grandchildren: Kristi (Chris) White, Annette and Jeannie Swircinski; Nicholas (Lisa) Kies, Natasha Kies and Spencer Kies; Jeremy (Molly) Kies, Justin (Amy) Kies, and Amanda (Jason) MCCain; Matthew Kies, Mitchell (Becky) Kies, Marshall (Ashley) Kies, Rachael Kies, Brooke (Eric) Blessington, Bailey Kies, Jason (Jill) Kies, and Chad (Kate) Kies; and several great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law Renata Kies of Wall Lake; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine; parents Frank and Clara; sons: Stan and Milo Kies; granddaughters: Faith Fickel and Tiffany Kies; and great-grandson Maxwell Kies.
