Leonard W. Peters, age 87, of Breda, IA, passed away at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA, on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.  Leonard was born on September 2, 1927, near Carnarvon, IA, to Herman and Tollie (Meyer) Peters.  He was a longtime member of Wheatland Presbyterian Church in Breda.

His infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children: Elaine and husband Carl Berry of West Des Moines, Mark and wife Kristi Peters of Breda and John and wife Kelli Peters of Urbandale; son-in-law Mike Petersen of Urbandale; grandchildren: Maddi, Karli, Brad and Colin Peters; step-grandchildren: Stephanie (John) Reinhardt, Mike Berry, Carey (Jon) Anderson and Alexa Guessford.  Other survivors include his brother Lester and wife Kandi Peters of Wall Lake; sister Betty and husband Lowell Rohlff of Carroll, NE; and many extended family members.

“We are so sorry to hear of Leonard's passing. When Marilyn Hundling called and told us, we were saddened, but then the smiles came as we remembered our talks with him. When I first met your dad, twenty years ago, we talked of the hard times in farming and I told him we were down to eating weany water soup. For years after that he always asked how the soup was when we visited Wheatland church. He and your mom were always a pleasure to talk with. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers as is Leonard. .
