Shirley Ann Simpson, age 90, of Lytton, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, IA. Shirley was born on October 8, 1924, in Lytton, IA, to parents Frank and Helen (Fleur) Mayo. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Lytton. Shirley attended grade school in Lytton through the 8th grade.
On May 6, 1944, Shirley was united in marriage to Roscoe C. Simpson, Jr in El Paso, TX. This union was blessed with three children: Ricarda, Roselee and Roscoe III. The family made their home in Lytton.
Shirley kept busy as a bookkeeper at the family plumbing and heating business. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and a Lytton Chamber member. Shirley enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and loved to bake. She will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter Roselee Simpson of Lytton, IA; son Roscoe Simpson III (Teresa) of Lytton, IA; brothers: Eldon Mayo of Schaumburg, IL, Sharon (Doris) Mayo of Sac City, IA; sister Winifred Hunt of Council Bluffs, IA; son-in-law Ronnie Manthe of Central City, IA; brother-in-law Don Weishaar of Emmetsburg, IA; sister-in-law Nelda Jardine of Superior, WI; grandchildren: Raissa (Tariq) Azmi of Wichita, KS, Jennifer Ansell of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rebecca Ansell of Marion, IA, Tara (Eric) Wedemeyer of Rockwell City, IA, Josiah Simpson of Goshen, IN, Jacob Simpson of Sac City, IA; great-grandchildren: Mackenzi Ansell, Rochelle Ansell, Hayley Lederly, Zeeshan Azmi, Fareesa Azmi, Madison Wedemeyer, Connor Wedemeyer; great-great grandchild: Leo Brown; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roscoe C. Simpson, Jr in 2006; daughter Ricarda Manthe; brothers: Donnie, Frank and Theodore Mayo (infancy); two sisters Theda (Eddie) Hurd and Myrna Weishaar; sister-in-law Nancy Mayo and brother-in-law Kenneth Hunt.
