Janice LaVonne Zeman, age 85, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA. Janice was born on November 19, 1929, to Henry and Edna (Pellersels) Niles just south of Sac City. She attended school in Sac City.
On January 23, 1948, Janice married Lester Zeman in the Methodist Parsonage in Rockwell City, IA. The couple was blessed with three children: John, Ruth and Deborah.
Janice resided in Sac City for her entire life where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. After raising her children, she ran a business, Janice’s Thrift Shop, for several years. Janice enjoyed playing cards, bingo and games with family and was a very shrewd player. She liked visiting with people and was known for her cinnamon rolls.
Janice is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lester Zeman of Sac City, IA; son John (Sandra) Zeman of Sac City and their family: Julie, Kaitlyn, and Ryan Strong, and Jill, Jake, Claire, and Greta Bleed; daughter Ruth (Mark) Brus of Sarasota, FL and their family: James Neville, Victoria Brus, and Leo Kaufman; daughter Deborah Carnine of Ames, IA, and her family: Karen Carnine and Kelly Carnine; step-son Harvey (Sharon) Zeman of Belvidere, IL and their family: Michael and Kaitlyn Zeman and Gary, Coco, Dante, Sofia, and Caleb Zeman; brothers: Russell (Sandra) Niles and Jerry (Peggy) Niles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edna Niles; sisters: Esther Florine Jurkovic, Eva Brouchous Edmonds, Vera Berry; brothers: Charles Niles, Dale Niles; son-in-law: Kurt Carnine.
