Myra Rose Kroeger

Myra Rose Kroeger, age 83, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Myra Rose (Faber) Kroeger was born February 15, 1931, to Tony and Mary (Steinkamp) Faber in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Wall Lake graduating from high school in 1949. On February 7, 1950, she married Russell Kroeger at St. Joseph’s in Wall Lake. They met as attendants at each of their cousins’ Ruth (Wolterman’s) and Darrell Andersen’s wedding. Their first date was at a dance, something they loved to do throughout their 64 years together. They farmed south of Arcadia for three years, east of Early for six years and in 1959, they moved to a farm northwest of Lake View where they resided until they retired and moved to Wall Lake 14 years ago.

Myra worked on the farm and for Twilight Acres, Con Agra and Boyer Valley Fertilizer.  She was active in St. Joseph’s Parish and a member of the Guild.  She greatly enjoyed her many card clubs and coffee with friends and former neighbors. Myra also enjoyed tracing her family history and researching their German heritage with her daughter, Joyce.  A trip to Germany to meet the Kroeger relatives who still live in Schleswig Holstein was very special.  Myra and Russ treasured the bus trips and traveling with family and friends registering countless stories for future laughs.  She liked her Paul Todd concerts in Naples, FL but most of all she loved the Big Band Sounds and dancing with her life-long partner. 

Myra treasured watching her children and/or grandchildren at their many sporting and musical events along with being able to Face Time to see her great granddaughter. They loved Grandma’s cooking and she enjoyed playing any kind of card game with her grandchildren. They’ll tell you she was a tough competitor at Monopoly.
