Rickie Lynn Fenton

Rickie Lynn Fenton, 64, of Sac City, IA, passed away at his home on January 9, 2015. Rick was born on November 25, 1950, to Bill and Marie (Flowers) Fenton at the Charles City Hospital in Charles City, IA. He grew up on a small farm two miles east of Orchard, IA. He attended school until 4th grade at Orchard and then attended and graduated from Osage Community High School in 1969.

After graduating high school, Rick enlisted in the Navy in May 1969. He earned the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer and received an honorable discharge in December 1974.

On July 4, 1974, Rick was united in marriage to Rhonda Nikolas at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage, IA. This union was blessed with three daughters: Niky, Laura, and Rachel. They made their home in Sac City where Rick worked at Tyson, formerly IBP, in Storm Lake, IA.

Rick had a green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers and loved his cats. The morning that Rick passed away a beautiful red Amarillo bloomed in his living room. He was a devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in his daughters accomplishments and seeing them grow and have families of their own. His daughters and their lives were always more important to him than his own. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his three daughters: Niky Lewis (Andrew Davis) of Osage, IA, Laura Fenton of Sioux Falls, SD, and Rachel Fenton (Kyle Doyle) of Jasper, MN; brother Jerry Fenton of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren: Bryce Hook of Des Moines, IA, Tyler Balster of Jasper, MN, Braxtin Gocha of Osage, IA, Tehya and Tristdan Fenton of Jasper, MN, and Kylie and Kara Doyle of Jasper, MN; his nephew Zeb (Aliesha) Fenton; and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marie Fenton.
