Donald Dean Roland was born on January 29, 1925. He was the son of George Glendon and Violet (Harris) Roland in Mallard, Iowa. Donald attended country school thru the 8th grade, and then started high school but quit to help on the farm as well as worked in Lyle Willis’ garage.
On August 12, 1948, Donald married Jean Knapp. They built a two room house in the yard where his parents lived and farmed in the summer and he drove truck for the Miller’s of Ruthven, Iowa hauling cattle in the fall and winter. This marriage was blessed with a son and two daughters. The couple farmed in the Ruthven and Emmetsburg area until 1959 when they moved to a farm near Fonda Iowa. They farmed until he retired the fall of 1992. After retiring they moved to Sac City.
Donald was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, and had a hobby of weaving lawn chairs and making camping lamps. Enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Roland (Sabrina) of Sac City, IA; daughters: Donna Jean Riedemann of Marcus, IA and Sharon Kay Erritt (fiance Steve) of Sac City, IA; sisters: Vivian (Kenneth) Fread of Ruthven, IA; Betty Cuklanz of Terril, IA; Mary (Richard) Mingus of Spencer, IA; Helen (Alan) Enderson of Spencer, IA; sisters-in-law: Nancy Roland of Ruthven, IA and Reba Roland of Spiro, OK; grandchildren: Garry Riedemann of Minneapolis, MN; Jeremy Riedemann of Marcus, IA; Ryann Riedemann of Boise, ID; Steven (Renee) Roland of Sac City, IA; Jodee (Kyle) Stuart of Ankeny, IA; Brent (Jessica) Erritt of Cherokee, IA; Briana Erritt (Fiance Lorne) of Lawton, IA ; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
