Leona Orth

Leona Orth, age 84, of North Bend, NE, originally from Sac City, IA, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Fremont Medical Center in Fremont, NE.

Leona Thersa O’Tool was born on February 13, 1925, in Breda, IA, to parents Arthur and Elnora (Schulte) O’Tool. She was baptized into the Catholic faith in Breda. Leona attended school at Nemaha Consolidated Schools for nine years. She then continued her education at Sac Community School and graduated in 1942.

Leona worked at the bakery in Sac City and worked many years as a dental assistant for Dr. Mulsberry, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Egeland.On July 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to Raymond Orth, and farmed near Sac City. In 1959 they welcomed a daughter, Diane. In 1961 they moved to Newell where they farmed until they retired in 1981, at which time they moved back to Sac City. In May 2008, she moved to North Bend, NE, to be closer to her daughter.

Leona loved to spend her time playing cards, gardening, visiting with friends, and fishing. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
