Virginia Mae Phillips, age 89, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Park View Care Center in Sac City, IA. Virginia was born on March 24, 1925, in Sac County, IA, to David and Ethel (Steele) Marvin. She graduated and received her diploma from Crestland High School in 1943.
She married Samuel Henry Sefren in 1943 and was blessed with two children, Lynda Lu and Samuel William (Bill). They were divorced in 1957. On February 14, 1959 she was united in marriage to John Junior Phillips, and was blessed with two sons, John Edward and Peter Allen. Virginia was baptized and confirmed in her faith at the United Methodist Church in Sac City, IA. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted home maker and her family was the greatest love of her life. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children: Lynda Lu Sefren Cavanagh of Boise, ID, Samuel William (Jan) Sefren of Yuma, AZ, John Edward (Lisa) Phillips of Sac City, IA; seven grandchildren: Barbara (Rick) Stitt, Boise, ID; Kenneth (Melanie) Moore Jr., South Sioux City, NE; Margaret Sefren of Salt Lake City, UT; Beth Groves of Salt Lake City, UT; Kathy Sefren of Salt Lake City, UT; Angela (Michael) Nicodemus of Sioux City, IA; Heather (Brian) Stehr of Salix, IA; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
