Doris Elizabeth Stadlman, age 96, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Sac City, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Doris was born on March 2, 1918, near Lytton in Sac County, the daughter of William Earl and Mary Ethel (Schenck) Woehl. She graduated from Lytton High School.
On May 22, 1941, Doris was united in marriage to Gaylord Stadlman. Two sons were born to this union: Neil and Evan. They made their home near Sac City where Gaylord pursued his life’s work as a livestock feeder and farmer. Gaylord affectionately referred to Doris as “Dode” and together they endured and overcame obstacles to achieve numerous recognitions.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She took pride in maintaining a clean and organized home in spite of living on a bustling livestock farm. For many years she maintained and enjoyed sharing the bounty of her vegetable and flower gardens. She was an excellent cook and always ensured there were homemade noodles, cookies, cakes and cinnamon rolls ready for visits by grandchildren. No visitor to her home left feeling hungry.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons: Neil Stadlman and wife Nancy of Cedar Falls and Evan Stadlman and wife Becky of Ankeny; grandchildren: Braden (Rebecca) Stadlman of Golden Valley, MN; Breon Stadlman of Minneapolis, MN; Sean Stadlman of Eden Prairie, MN; Megan Stadlman of Wildwood, IL; Marisa (Travis) Roseberry of West Des Moines, IA; and one great-grandchild; Levi Stadlman of Golden Valley, MN. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord; her parents; three sisters Mildred Shadle, Velma Longman and Marlene Sotello; and three brothers: Dean, Harlin and Daryl Woehl.
