“For I know that my Redeemer liveth and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth” Job 19:25 KJV Donald Ray McMillen, age 85, of Sac City, IA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Loring Hospital, in Sac City. Don was born March 31, 1929 at his grandparent’s home in a rural town of Dryden, NY. He was the son of the late Raymond and Lurline (Whittier) McMillen. In October 1946, he was born again when he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior and the course of his life changed.

He graduated from High School in Ithaca, NY in 1946. He married the love of his life, Arlene Rose Crispell on June 26, 1948 at Brooktondale (NY) Baptist Church. They were blessed with more than 66 years of loving marriage. Through the years, Don was employed in various vocations: dairy farming, long distance trucking, and as an electrical technician at Sears in Ithaca, NY. During these years, he enjoyed serving his Lord through the local church. In 1971, God called Don to a full time ministry, and he moved to Slater, IA to complete his education for a bachelor of Theology Degree in 1974. He was the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Fort Dodge for five years. For the next 18 years, he served in a pulpit supply ministry in many Baptist Churches in Iowa while working as an automotive mechanic at Sears in Ames, IA.

After retirement, he and his wife moved in 1996 to Sheridan, WY, to help in the ministry at Grace Baptist Church. In 2007, they moved to Sac City, IA to help in ministry at Wall Lake Baptist Church. Don loved to study the Bible and to teach it to others. He loved to walk in the hills of New York and mountains of Wyoming. He loved to play the guitar and sing the old hymns with his family. He enjoyed this until hours before his final illness.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his sons, Dale (Sue) of Runnells, IA and Ken (Denise) of Early, IA; daughters, Donna Anderson (Stephen) of Sheridan WY, and Kay McMillen of Sac City, IA; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sister Marsha (Jerry) Leonard of Waynesboro, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary, Shirley and Joanne of Ithaca, NY; He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Sam, Brian, Richard, and Edmond and sisters Jackie and Margie.
