Janet June (Jarvis) Hutchinson, age 66, of Sac City, IA, formerly of Lytton, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Janet was born on July 12, 1948, the daughter of Lawrence Franklin and Dorthea Fay (Toms) Jarvis in Sac City. She was baptized April 6, 1958, at the Free Methodist Church in Sac City, confirmed May 28, 1974 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City. Janet attended school in Sac City and earned her GED in later years.
On March 13, 1965, Janet was united in marriage to Edward Eugene Hutchinson in Sac City. They were blessed with three children: Jody, Susan and Jennifer. They made their home in Lytton and together owned and operated Hutch’s Café in Sac City. Janet retired in October of 2010. She enjoyed collecting sea shells, rocks, and frogs. Janet’s family was very important part of her life and she cherished them and the times they could spend together. She loved cooking, baking and the holidays. She was so proud of being a breast cancer survivor since October 2007. Janet will be missed by many who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children: Jody Hutchinson of Sac City, Susan Starnes and special friend Victor Lockwood of Twin Lakes, IA, and Jennifer Johnson and husband Brent of Parkersburg,IA; grandchildren: Tony (Jen) Hutchinson of Meridian, ID, Jeremy (Lisa) Hutchinson of Lake City, IA, Andy Hutchinson of Rockwell City, IA, Blake (Ashley) Starnes of Sac City, Jenna Starnes of Wichita, KS, Rylee Starnes of Twin Lake, IA, Chelsea, Cody, Collin and Charity Johnson of Parkersburg, IA; great-grandchildren: Jaycob, Tori, Alyssa, Miya, Anthony (Barricuda) Brooklyn, Addison, Xander, and Nevaeh. Other survivors include her sister, Peg Purdy and husband Don of Des Moines, IA; brother Jim Jarvis and wife Shirley of Sacramento, CA; brother-in-law Virgil Johnson of Sac City; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ed on August 5, 2011; mother and father-in-law Ada and Lawrence (Bud) Bauer; sisters: Ann Johnson and Joan Crabb; brothers: Jerry and Jack Harms; brother-in-law Bud Crabb and Larry Bauer; and niece and nephew: Lori and Shane Harms.
