Betty Luckow, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at her home in Sac City, IA. Betty Lou Lowry was born on March 18, 1946 to parents Delbert and Donna Belle (Brennan) Lowry at Mercy St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Dodge, IA. Betty was baptized at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson, IA and grew up in the Catholic faith. Betty attended K-2^nd grades in Knierim, IA, and then 3^rd through 12^th grades in Manson, IA. She graduated with the class of 1964. While growing up she was active in 4H. She excelled at cooking and sewing and her work was shown at the Calhoun County fair. While growing up she lived 10 miles from town and was a great help to her dad on the family farm.
   After graduation, Betty went to Bernell’s Beauty School in Fort Dodge, IA for 10 ½ months graduating in 1964.  Her first job as a hairdresser was in Humboldt, IA with Henry’s Coiffeurs where she worked for 2 years.
   She met the love of her life, Randy Luckow, at the bowling alley in Sac City. They met in January 1966 and got married on May 6, 1966. They had a double wedding with their best friends.  They continued in the Lutheran faith after their marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City. Their union was blessed with two children, Todd in 1967, and Teri in 1971.
   Randy and Betty farmed from 1978-1996. Living on the farm was a great place to raise their family. Betty also worked in hair salons in Rockwell City and Sac City. She had a beauty shop on the farm with her sister-in-law the “B and P Beauty Shop”. She continued to do hair until 2012 when she retired.   
   Betty enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music and was a fan of Neil Diamond. Randy and Betty enjoyed golfing, bowling and dancing together. In her later years, Betty joined a couple of card clubs. On Sunday nights, she would make supper for her adult children. Family was very important to Betty and she always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite things was to cuddle them sitting in the rocking chair.  Betty was always the life of the party and she was friends with many and a welcome presence at every gathering. She will be deeply missed by many.
   Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Todd (Teri Kay) Luckow of Sac City, IA, and Teri Higgins of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Ashley (Devin) Conover, Caleb Luckow, Brent Graybill, and Jordan (Jasmine) Luckow; great-grandchildren: Maya Conover, Addison Conover, Rory Conover, Luca Luckow, and Phoenix Luckow; brother Bob (Julie) Lowry; sister Pat (Pete) Peterson; brothers-in-law Lyle (Nancy) Luckow and Lennis (Penny) Luckow; and sister-in-law Marilyn Cates.
   Betty was preceded in death by her husband Randy Luckow; parents Delbert and Donna Belle Lowry; sister Bev Lowry; parents-in-law Lawrence and Wilma Luckow; brothers-in-law: Bob, Ron, and Steve Luckow; sisters-in-law Jean Hayzlett and Deanne Luckow; and son-in-law Tim Higgins.
