The family of Mark Kuchel, 71, of Lincolnshire, Illinois and Oro Valley, Arizona is saddened to share that he passed away in the early morning of October 22, 2025.
Mark’s passing was unexpected yet peaceful at his Arizona home. Born in August of 1954 to John and Sarah “Maybell” Kuchel of Iowa, Mark was an exceptional student athlete, earning honors in the classroom and on the baseball and football field. Mark went on to earn a scholarship from Iowa State University where he joined Delta Upsilon fraternity and
graduated with a degree in Industrial Administration.
As a business professional, Mark was fulfilled by his numerous career achievements as a partner at Andersen Consulting for 20+years followed by years in leadership positions at eloyalty, Knightsbridge and Hewlett Packard.
Mark was a man of little words, but when he spoke his words always mattered. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved and cherished. For as hard and tirelessly as he worked, he always made time for his family and never missed an important event.
Mark always showed up ready to help in any way he could lend support and give back to his communities. He enjoyed a good book, never missed a workout and was a dedicated sports fan until the end. During retirement he became an assistant football coach at East Sac County High School in his hometown of Wall Lake, Iowa. He volunteer coached and prepared the football field for the upcoming season.
As serious as he could be at times, Mark had a radiant smile that could light up any room. Once you saw that side of Mark, you couldn’t help but love him. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will truly be missed, and his legacy will live on through all those whose lives he touched.
Mark is survived by his wife Dana; their two daughters and families: Kristin (Bradley), Kate (Nate); his grandchildren; and his pal Oreo the cat.
