Kathleen “Kathy” Joann Hansen, age 75 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Kathleen Joann Mohr was born on September 3, 1950, in Carroll, IA, to Victor and Vera (Corderman) Mohr. She grew up near Auburn, IA, where she attended country school during her younger years before continuing her education in the Lake View-Auburn School District.
Kathy was blessed with four children: Mischelle, Jared, Robert Jr., and Joseph, who were the center of her world. On June 7, 2001, she married the love of her life, Loren Ray Hansen, in a ceremony held on the very farm where they would make their home together for the next 25 years. It was a place they cherished and where they created countless memories with family and friends.
Throughout her working years, Kathy dedicated herself to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant. She began her career at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City, IA, before later working at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, where she faithfully served until her retirement.
Family was Kathy’s greatest blessing and the source of her greatest happiness. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren, whose visits always brought a smile to her face.
Kathy was known for speaking her mind with honesty and sincerity. She had a wonderfully outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Whether welcoming visitors to the farm, enjoying an afternoon of playing cards with family and friends, or simply striking up a conversation with someone new, Kathy made people feel at home.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved taking countryside drives, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, and never hesitated to lend Loren a hand with the hog chores. Together, she and Loren also enjoyed traveling on several out-of-state trips, making treasured memories along the way. Kathy rarely missed an episode of The Young and the Restless and later discovered a love for playing games on her iPad, quickly becoming especially fond of Candy Crush.
Above all, Kathy will be remembered for the way she loved others. She had a huge, caring heart, a generous spirit, and a warmth that drew people to her. She was fun to be around, quick to laugh, always ready to visit, and genuinely loved everyone she met. Her kindness, honesty, and unwavering love for her family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the love she freely gave, and the countless lives she touched will remain a treasured gift to her family and friends forever.
She leaves behind her husband, Loren Hansen of Wall Lake, IA; children: Mischelle (Ralph) Hardy of Radcliffe, IA, Jared Mohr (Marian Zimmer) of Sac City, IA, Bob (Tammy) Mohr of Glidden, IA, Joey (Kristine) Mohr of Mountain Lake, MN, Loren Hansen, Jr. (Danielle Ryan) of St. Joseph, MO, Tammy Morenz of Rockwell City, IA, Tom Hansen of Lake City, IA, and Toni Hansen (Seabring Park) of Dodge City, KS; grandchildren: Jessica (Troy) Knutson, Elyse Grote (Tanner), Jasmine Birt (Omar), Miranda (Lowell) Austin, Noah Hardy, David Mohr, Justine Mohr (Garrett), Eli Mohr, Nathan Mohr, Colton Mohr, Shyla (Mason) Drost, Savannah Mohr (Wyatt), Logan Mohr (Lynae), Jade Hansen (Martin), Paige Hansen, Bailey Hansen, Devon Hansen (Madi), Colten (Brianna) Morenz, Allison Morenz, Trevor Hansen, and Tryston Hansen; sixteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Vicki (Gerry) Hanson of Parnell, IA, and Mary (Bruce) Eller of Ankeny, IA; brother Dennis (Patty) Mohr of Elkhorn, IA; sister-in-law Becky Mohr of Wall Lake, IA; sisters-in-law Vicki (Rick) Onken of Lidderdale, IA, Shirley (Steve) Daniels of Glidden, IA, Irene of FL, and Katherine (Danny) Shamall of Carroll, IA; brother-in-law Jess Gordon of Wall Lake, IA; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

“My heart is with you in this season of deep sorrow. When someone so dear steps into eternity, the ache reaches places words cannot touch. Yet I pray the Lord Himself will meet you there - in the quiet moments, in the tears, in the memories that rise without warning. May His peace steady your spirit, His presence surround your home, and His love hold you together day by day. Your loved one's life was a gift, and the light they carried does not fade; it simply shines now from the Father's house. I'm standing with you, praying that God will give you strength for each step and comfort for each night. You are not walking this valley alone.”

“My dear brother, my heart is with you in this heavy hour of sorrow. The passing of your beloved wife is a grief that words can scarcely carry. I pray the Lord Himself will draw near to you, for "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3 KJV). Her kindness, her presence, and the love she shared will not be forgotten. The Lord has received her into His everlasting care, and though the separation is painful, her rest is sure and her peace is complete. I am standing beside you, praying that God will strengthen you day by day. May His comfort steady your spirit, His promises uphold you, and His love surround your home. You are not walking this valley alone - I am here, and the Lord is with you.”

“The world has lost a dear-heart. I used to be at Kathy's mom's when I was a young girl (she was just as sweet). I could've never imagined then how we'd come to meet by you being a caring soul at Twilight Acres. You were so good to my young mother who had no other choice but to be there due to cancer. What an awful time but you brought joy every time we saw you. How we'd end up intertwined with loved ones then later on! You will surely be missed. I will never forget you. I'm certain you were welcomed home by so many after you were greeted by our one and only God. ”
