Jack Nuetzman, age 92 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Twilight Acres, surrounded by his loving family. Jackie Lee Nuetzman was born on August 30, 1933, to parents Leroy and Alvina (Dettmann) Nuetzman. He grew up in the Wall Lake area and graduated from Odebolt High School on May 22, 1951.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from February 20, 1953, until February 19, 1957. While stationed in Honolulu, HI, he married the love of his life, Carol Wade, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Following their time in Hawaii, Jack was stationed in Florida where he and Carol attended Our Savior Lutheran Church. Together they started the church’s Sunday school program and wrote and directed a Christmas program that became well attended by families throughout the area, many of whom had never experienced a Christmas program before.
Faith remained at the center of Jack’s life. He was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church on September 29, 1933, and confirmed there on June 29, 1947. Jack remained a devoted and active member throughout his life, teaching Sunday school for many years and sharing his faith with countless children and families.
Jack was a proud farmer who dedicated his life to the land and to caring for livestock. Throughout his working years, he raised dairy cattle, fat cattle, and pigs while farming many acres alongside his family. When the farm crisis hit in the 1980s, Jack took on a full-time position at Cookies Food Products where he worked in production for many years while continuing to farm as well.
Jack enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing with his brothers, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and listening to their games on the radio. He was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, though he jokingly became a fan of the Iowa State Cyclones because several of his grandchildren attended school there. He was a tremendous supporter of Raider athletics, participated in and supported the Sac County Relay for Life, and alongside Carol, strongly supported Special Olympics, special education programs, and the Howard Center.
One of Jack’s greatest joys, aside from Carol and his family, was his flowers. He loved tending to them each summer and watching them bloom year after year. Jack and Carol spent countless hours outdoors together caring for their yard and gardens.
Above all else, Jack loved his family deeply and was incredibly proud of each of them. He especially treasured their visits to the farm, particularly later in life when he became more homebound. The love shared between Jack and Carol was truly remarkable and evident to everyone who knew them. He was always her greatest supporter, standing faithfully by her side through every season of life. Their marriage was an example of unwavering love, devotion, and partnership.
Jack was a kind and gentle soul whose warmth, faith, and quiet strength touched so many lives. He will be missed dearly by his family and all who knew and loved him.
