Duane Wunschel, age 91 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake.

   Duane Edward Wunschel was born on April 15, 1934, to parents Frederick and Elizabeth (Jarl) Wunschel in rural Wall Lake. He was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake on June 3, 1934, and confirmed there on May 16, 1948. Duane attended country school then went to Wall Lake Community School.
   
   On November 22, 1953, Duane was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Rusch at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, IA. This union was blessed with three children, Rick, Marsha and Tammy. The family lived in Wall Lake where Duane was a dedicated farmer and an amazing steward to the land. He later worked for Cookies Food Products in Wall Lake as a BBQ sauce delivery driver.
 
   In his spare time, Duane enjoyed playing cards including poker and blackjack. He also enjoyed  occasional trips to local casinos. He loved fishing and in his younger years spent a lot of time fishing the Boyer River. Above all, Duane’s greatest love was time spent with his family. He especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His kind, gentle soul will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
   
   Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Rick (Joan) Wunschel of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren: Jeremy (Jennifer) Wunschel, Eric (Jill) Wunschel, Kate (Andy) Reiman, Stephen (Nikki) Wunschel, Alison (Cord) Horsley, Beth (Chad) Miller, Nicole (DJ) Wiggins: great-grandchildren: Josh, Colton, Brooke, Peyton, Paige, Wyatt and Isabelle; Noah and Avery; Vienna, Nola, Maya and Archie; Nora, Quinn and Lena; Keylee; Morgan, Emarie and Daine; sister, Betty Roth, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

   Duane was preceded in death by his wife Bev Wunschel; parents Frederick and Elizabeth Wunschel, daughters Marsha Dixon and Tammy Wunschel; grandson Jeffrey Dixon; brother Eugene Wunschel and brother-in-law Alvin Roth.
