Viola Snyder, age 87 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, NE. Viola Frances Quinn was born on June 23, 1937, to parents Roy and Viola (Ziegler) Quinn in Bucklin, MO. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Marceline, MO, and graduated from Marceline High School.

On May 25, 1963, Viola married Gary Snyder. They later separated. This union was blessed with nine children: Donna, Glenn, Bruce, Brenda, Mark, Luke, John, Wayne, and Marie. The family moved from Kansas City to Williamstown, MO, on a farm, and in 1979, to a farm south of Wall Lake, IA.

Viola was a devoted Catholic; her faith was always extremely important to her. She was so proud of her family and cherished any time spent with them. She was great at sending letters and cards to family and friends for special occasions, but also out of the blue, just because. Viola was also the area taxi driver of sorts for those who could no longer drive or didn’t have a car. She was always willing to help people in any way she could.

Every spring Viola planted a large garden that she would tend to, along with many flowers as she loved those too. When fall rolled around, she spent hours upon hours canning all the produce from the garden. She made the best angel food cake from scratch and her strawberry pretzel salad was at every family gathering.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing Euchre and Bingo. Viola especially enjoyed time spent visiting her brothers and sisters; she and her sisters always made sure to get many games of Rummy in. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends over coffee at one another’s homes.

Viola’s sweet soul will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children: Donna McLaughlin of Portland, OR, Glenn Snyder of San Antonio, TX, Bruce Snyder of Lakewood, CO, Brenda (Tim) Baumann of Nebraska City, NE, Mark (Karissa) Snyder of West Point, UT, Luke (Jennifer) Snyder of Algona, IA, John Snyder of Merrill, IA, Wayne (Brandy) Snyder of Glidden, IA, and Marie (Jeff) Gibson of Johnston, IA; grandchildren: Tom, Kelly; Glenn Matthew; Cole, Lena; Hunter; Hayden (Katelyn), Hunter, Marcus; Jack, Eva, Leo; Dillon; Austin, Macy, Emmett, Allison; Coen and Callie; great-grandson Easton; siblings: Laroy (Mary Catherine) Quinn of Marceline, MO, Kathryn Milner of Marceline, MO, Mary C. Liebhart of New Boston, MO, John A. (Mary) Quinn of Chillicothe, MO, Kathleen (Tom) Pfaff of Chillicothe, MO, George W. (Marta) Quinn of Chillicothe, MO, Robert (Sherri) Quinn of Chillicothe, MO, and Raymond (Robin) Quinn of Chillicothe, MO; brother-in-law Jim Vance of Macon, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Viola Quinn; sisters Lelia Marie (Charles) Preston, Lauretta Mae Vance, and Royanna (Dean) Mallett; two infant sisters Bernice & Beatrice Quinn; and brothers-in-law Harold Milner and Dean Liebhart.
